Good trip, smooth process

I bought an Advance ticket for a trip from London to Dover Priory last month. The website was pretty straightforward, found the fare I wanted easily. I picked up an e-ticket, which was handy, just scanned it from my phone. The train left on time and got there without any issues. Seat was comfortable enough for the journey. Didn't need to contact support, so can't speak to that. Overall, a solid experience for what I paid.

Decent value, slight delay

I purchased a Super Off-Peak return ticket for a day trip to Hastings. The price was good, especially with my Network Railcard applied. Booking on the app was quick, and getting the e-ticket was easy. The outbound journey was smooth, but the return train was about 15 minutes late, which was a bit annoying as I had a connection. Customer service was okay when I asked about it at the station, but it wasn't a huge deal. The seat was clean, and I got a window seat which was nice.

My go-to for Kent travel

I've been using Southeastern for years to visit family in Kent. Mostly I get the Off-Peak tickets. This time I bought a few for a weekend trip to Canterbury. The process was consistent with previous times; I just logged in and booked. Never had a problem with delays on their high-speed services, which is why I keep coming back. The smartcard worked fine too.

Hey guys, thinking of heading into London from Rochester next month. Is it better to just buy a daily ticket or try to get a Flexi Season? Only going in maybe 2-3 times a week max.

N Nathan Wright 2 weeks ago
Flexi is probably only worth it if you're doing like 3+ days a week consistently. For 2, you might be better off with advance tickets or just off-peak dailies if your schedule allows.

Yeah, I use Flexi but I'm in 4 days a week. For 2-3, I'd compare the daily off-peak cost vs the Flexi ticket pack. Sometimes the daily works out cheaper, especially with a railcard.

Anyone know if you can actually use those 2 for 1 London attraction vouchers with Southeastern tickets? Or do you need like, specific national rail ones?

S Sean J. 3 weeks ago
I think as long as your Southeastern ticket is a paper ticket (not e-ticket or smartcard) and it's a return into a London terminal, it usually works. I've used them before.

R Rachel Mitchell 3 weeks ago
Yeah, pretty sure you just need to keep your paper ticket from Southeastern. It's usually good for the 2 for 1 offers. Just make sure it's valid for the day you're visiting the attraction.

Can I use my Oyster card on all Southeastern services into London, or just specific routes? Moving to Dartford soon.

K Karen L. 1 week ago
You can use Oyster on most Southeastern services within the London fare zones. Dartford definitely falls into that, so you should be good.

H Hannah Robinson 5 days ago
Yeah, for Dartford you're fine. It's mostly the high-speed services or lines way out past the Oyster zones where it won't work. But within London and the commuter belt, you're usually covered.

Need to get from Ashford to St Pancras next week. Is it much pricier to take the high speed train or is it worth it for the time saved?

B Betty Jones 1 week ago
HS1 is definitely more expensive than the regular line, but it's SO much faster. If you're in a hurry it's worth it. Check the advance fares, sometimes you can snag a deal.

Yeah, I always budget for the HS1 if I'm going to St Pancras. Saves a good chunk of time. Prices can vary a lot, so try to book in advance if you can.

What's the deal with promo codes for Southeastern? Trying to find one for a specific journey but can't see anywhere to enter it.

R Robert 2 weeks ago
They barely ever do public promo codes, seriously. Most of their discounts are through railcards, advance tickets, or specific schemes like 'kids for a quid'.

J Jessica H. 2 weeks ago
Yeah, don't waste your time looking for a promo code box. I've only ever seen them used for like, compensation vouchers or very specific marketing things, not general public discounts. You're better off with a railcard or off-peak.
